We have had an awesome week of VBS! We have consistently had approximately 40 kids each night, from 3 years old up to 7th grade. Our leaders and volunteers have done a wonderful job of decorating, cooking, prepping, and guiding this week. We’ve started each night off with a nice meal, which we hope has helped parents and workers alike to not have to stress about supper before VBS starts. I know it has helped my family! The kids have enjoyed the skits presented at the opening and closing assembly each evening. They have also had a blast with outdoor games that usually required them getting just a little wet. Often they have had to learn to work together to accomplish their goals during game time. They have also enjoyed their craft time, as well as the music for the week. But I have been glad to see that all of these activities have consistently pointed the students back to the main purpose of the evening, the Bible lesson. Our kids have been focusing on the Apostle Paul and his travels this week as they have learned how they can serve God just as he did. It is possible for us to fail in our primary objective, even if we feed them a great meal, entertain them, and send them home happy. But, we will not fail so long as the kids entrusted to our care hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ clearly and consistently. I am happy to say that we have met that objective all week long. That is what makes for a great week of VBS, and we have met the goal! I am very proud of all our workers who have given much of their time, gifts, and energy to make this year’s VBS a success. Thank you all who love these kids enough to serve them.
Our VBS closing program will be Sunday afternoon, August 5th, at 2:00. We will have an an ice-cream fellowship afterward with the kids, parents, and workers!
