A Great Summer Tradition
One of the great summer traditions for our kids and teens is Church Camp. Antioch West attends Daniel Springs Baptist Camp in Gary, Texas. As part of the Baptist Missionary Association of America, we are part owners of this camp, and we are proud of the impact it is making for the Kingdom of Christ! Our camp provides a great “getaway” environment and is the perfect place to focus on Christ without the interruptions of everyday life. Daniel Springs’ facilities include a large swimming pool, softball field, basketball court, beach volleyball court, horseshoe area, ping pong tables, paddle boats, and a fully equipped playground area. Camp Director Jason Prewitt has been in charge of Daniel Springs for several years now, and brings more fun and excitement to each camp season. He has a great group of summer workers, mostly made up of college students who love kid and teen ministries. They train hard before camp starts and work hard all summer long to give our kids a great camp experience that they will remember for a lifetime. Our camp encourages students to be strong in their commitment to Christ in their personal life, family life, and church life.
The ‘Ark-La-Tex’ Week
There are many weeks of summer camp offered at Daniel Springs, and we attend the Ark-La-Tex Family Camp held July 16-19. This camp week works well for our church because it offers age appropriate recreation and studies for both kids and teens! This week of camp is well received by many churches, as camp attendance has steadily grown for many years. Last year’s Ark-La-Tex Camp had more than 600 campers! While other camp weeks specialize in either teen or kid ministries, our camp week features solid Bible teaching, meaningful relationship building, and fun-filled recreation that is custom tailored to a wide variety of ages. Our teens will enjoy participating in study groups, games, and tournaments with teenagers from several other churches while our kids have their lessons and activities offered to them on their level. We will all end the day together in an evening worship service that is attended by all 600+ campers!
Who Can Go?
While the Ark-La-Tex Family camp offers programs for very young children, Antioch West will take students entering 4th grade through College to camp. Kids entering 3rd grade and younger can only attend camp with AWBC if they are accompanied by an adult.
Camp Registration and Other Info
You can register your child for camp in the church foyer before or after any of our regular services until June 23. Camp registration costs $140, but Antioch West is able to offer a deeply discounted rate because of the generosity of God’s people. If you would like to talk to someone about sending your child to camp, please send an email to email@example.com.
More information about the camp can be found at their website, www.danielspringscamp.com, or on the Daniel Springs Facebook page. The Ark-La-Tex Family Camp week also has their own Facebook page as well!
