Our jr high and high school students will attend the annual youth conference, SOAR, held at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas, on July 2-5, 2019!
A Unique Gathering of Students
SOAR is not exactly like your ‘old fashioned’ camp meeting. This is a lively conference that is used to zero in on the needs of students. Music, drama, video and other creative arts are implemented to relate to a changing student culture, while centering them on the Word of God. The results of this conference since its inception in 1991 have been amazing! The theme for this year is “One Lost Sheep”. With a deep focus on missions, students will learn about the unconditional love of God and his relentless pursuit of the lost.
About The Theme
This year’s main speaker, Andy Comer, is the lead pastor at Antioch Georgetown in Georgetown, Texas. He will challenge our students to consider the outrageous love of a shepherd who would leave 99 sheep just to save one. When we think of how precious that that one lost sheep must be to the Shepherd, we will stand in wonder of a God so focused on reaching lost people – like you and me – that he goes to incredible lengths to find them. Once He has found us, he gives our lives meaning and purpose by allowing us to get in on his great mission. Also, our BMA Missions Executive Director, Dr. John David Smith, will continue to lead our students in learning about God’s heart for missions.
What Will We Do?
Our schedule will be filled with 4 General Sessions that everyone attends, 4 Breakout Sessions where each student will choose their preference of the 13 topics offered, several ‘Church Time’ slots where we review together what we’ve learned, a concert by Christian artist ‘Citizen Way’, various activities in the ‘Soar Village’, the ‘Youth Pastor Lip Sync Battle’, and some time to relax at the Paradise Springs Water Park located at the Gaylord hotel.
